WORKSHOPS

In my teaching I work in groups and in one-on-one sessions. I may draw from poetic imagery, authentic movement, writing, voice work, contact improvisation, yoga, theatre games, role playing and wanderings in nature. I have experience working with all ages of people in a variety of capacities, ranging from coaching individuals in solo theatre performance to working with up to 60 people at a time.

The Flying Nest.

Each year Jayne Lee and I teach a summer dance intensive at The Nest called The Flying Nest. The workshops combines Feldenkrais, improvisation, composition, site work, and excursions to nearby canyons and swimming spots. This workshop offers pathways of inner awareness combined with guidance toward personal and group artistic vision.

Custom Choreography

This is a way of working with the intentions of my students, which could range from creating a performance piece, designing a rite of passage ceremony or simply having the desire to share more spontaneity, creativity and fun. It has been particularly powerful for me to work with partnerships that have a long history together such as married couples, or parents and children. I invite individual or groups proposals for a facilitated custom movement experience.

Archetypal Embodiment

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In this workshop groups are guided thorough an archetypal movement journey exploring recurrent characters or stories that emerge from the individual and collective human story. Workshops are designed around a particular theme such as mythological story, tarot, or the chakra system. We birth and execute our images, flesh them out and play within them, allowing new aspects of ourselves to be experienced and witnessed.

Nature Moving Women

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Jade Sherer and I collaborate to offer workshops for women in beautiful retreat settings. We give space and time to witness the dynamic mirrorings we receive when we immerse ourselves in nature. Through sensory and movement explorations we bring awareness to our own ongoing inner dance. As a group of women and as women moving alone we explore how the inner interfaces with all that surrounds us. We have taught at Riversong Sanctuary and Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat Center. “What you give is sanctioned intimacy without shame.” — John Waddell, artist

“Delisa is a like movement conductor, one you can completely trust. She helps everyone drop into deeper parts of themselves and share that soul-material. She models this with her own movement, her work and her own life.” — Megan Buchanan Cherry

“The class gave me a supportive and creative learning environment and the structure to put my feeling into form.” — Rebecca Welsh

“While taking this class it dawned on me that my spirituality and dance could become one.” — Maura Garland

“I danced with Delisa through strange fits of weather that all originated from her skillful inspiration and orchestration. A gardener of unabashed body-minds and a wielder of limitless oddity and beauty. Delisa collects students like some farmers collect chickens, and she tends to them well, returning them all, once she sees fit, to the effulgent forests of their wild ancestors. Delisa crows jubilantly from the rooftops, screaming, ‘Hey now everybody, it is time to wake up and shake that thing!’” — Andrew Wohlsen

“Working with Delisa is like being engulfed by a magnificent force of nature, wondering but not caring what you will be spat out as. She will illuminate your subcutaneous tunnels, helping you uncover your most secret and repulsive caches. Treasures that once took energy to hide will begin to fuel your movement with ease.” — Ramona Bradley
